This afternoon, I will serve as a funeral officiant for the first time this year. This is something I never charge for, but rather think of as community service. I generally say no to requests right now, since there is a risk that I might get called to the hospital for a liver transplant – but since a dear friend lost her mother, we decided to take the risk. My wife, a skilled moderator of all things in front of a group of people, is standby to take over if need be.
It will be an unusual ceremony, conducted in a secluded part of the beautiful town library in Malmö. And the lady who passed away? I didn’t know her before, but now, having learned about her, I so wish that I had met her. It seems like she was a bright soul.
