This is The International Week. Day 1.
There will be a short text here every day. Do follow me for finding a language defending very basic ideological and intellectual groundwork for internationalism!
***
Three years ago today since Russia waged a full scale war against Ukraine – we as an international community has failed to support Ukraine enough. And now, we have a fascist president in the US who claims that Ukraine started the war and that the widely popular and democratically elected president of Ukraine is a ”dictator”.
I personally hate Trump for this. It is inexcusable what he is saying and doing. Supporting him now equals supporting Russia against innocent European friends in Ukraine and elsewhere.
I will do some things today: donate a sum of money, again, to Ukraine. And I will keep on writing wherever I can, to demand more of my representatives. I would be happy and proud to pay more taxes to support our friends in Ukraine against the terror that Trump’s ally Putin is imposing on a prosperous and peaceful neighbor.
But why, though? Why the engagement? Very simple: because the world is international. Trade. Friendships. Culture. Food. Marriages. Religion. Politics. There is absolutely no rolling that back. Nationalism is a dead end. The future belongs to those who cooperate, who remain who they are in intelligent mutual projects with other people. That is what we need to defend, for a free and prosperous future for all.
