The book market is flooded right now – so many interesting projects to describe our digital future. But I wonder, from a political efficiency standpoint: are these books the best way to channel the knowledge of the authors? If we want to change the digital world for the better?
I get the same feeling sometimes when I see ambitious academic anthologies compiled by professors X, Y and Z, on any subject. So much knowledge. Such little impact.
I need to think long and hard about any possible future book projects, depending on what I want to achieve. My first eight titles are all the result of my own personal appetite for an idea – none of them have been ”strategic” or commercially adapted.
Perhaps that’s the way I should continue. Just let books be a passion, and instead trust journalism, speaking, consulting and educational projects to carry ideas with more direct impact. I am really not sure.
